Here’s a quick post on how to create this fresh, colourful summer-feel look, using the Maybelline Nudes Palettes, which I am also going to review in this post. I am sure you must have already seen this makeup in my bio picture (on the right side of this page) but here’s a step by step on how-to create it yourself. No video this time, but I will give you all the ins and out in this blog. Above you can see all the products I used and as usual I will provide you links to my favourite products so you can have them at your doorstep in no time. Enjoy the read!

BASE + BROWS

The start of every good makeup is a healthy skin, I used Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel to moisturise my skin before applying any other makeup. Second I used a face primer because I like how it evens out my skin and holds my makeup longer, I opted for the Colorbar Perfect Match Primer. As my foundation I used my favourite Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-In-1 Foundation + Concealer – Warm beige 05, though this product is a concealer and foundation in one, I just wanted a little more coverage plus a highlight under my eye and to achieve that I used the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD – Medium Beige.

For my contouring I used the Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Contour Palette – Medium To Deep and for highlighting I went with the M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle. I am not going to say much about how to do your contouring and highlighting as I JUST released a video and blog tutorial on the topic where you can learn all about it 😉 Finally I set my makeup with my all-time favourite loose powder, Bharat & Dorris Loose Powder Big – No.5.

For my eyebrows I used two products, first to fill them in I choose the L’Oreal Paris Brow Artist Genius Kit Medium To Dark and then, to make them look even more full and keep the eyebrow hairs in place I finished it off with a NYX Professional Makeup Tinted Brow Mascara – Brunette Brown.

EYES

Like I mentioned before, for this look I used the two nudes palettes you can see in the pic above. And if you look closely you can see that my fav colours in those palettes are already almost gone, that should tell you something about how much I use and love them! They are my go-to for a quick makeup and I can achieve almost every single look I want with just these two palettes; the Maybelline New York The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette and the Maybelline New York The Blushed Nudes Palette. They are also life-savers you can carry with you at any time as you can use some of the shades for example on your eyebrows, as highlighter or even as eyeliner.

For this look I started off with the NYX Professional Makeup Eye Shadow Base as my eye makeup base. I then used a darker shade from the palettes to work on my crease line, moreover to create one as I don’t really have a beautiful natural crease. I have what you’d call ‘hooded eyes’. I also highlighted the inner corners of my eyes and below the eyebrow arch to give the smokey eye makeup a nice glowy finish. For definition I used the Colorbar Precision Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner that I winged out a bit and I complimented it with an eye kohl on my lower eye, using an Inglot Kohl Pencil.

On my lashes I used the Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara to make my natural lashes look fuller and also so that they would blend well with the false lashes I used later. The reason I often use false lashes is to make my eyes look full and add an extra dimension to the whole eye makeup. I used my favourite PAC Eye Lashes – 54.

LIPS, CHEEKS & NAILS

Though the makeup as a whole looks colourful, did you realise my eyes have no colour at all? I only used very natural, nude, shades. Which is why I wanted add element by repeating the colour of my top in my blush, nails and lips and I love how it turned out. Too many matching colours can kill a makeup (I’m sure you must all have see the blue dress + blue eyeshadow + blue everything kind of fails). The trick is to balance it out and I think it worked out really well in this look. I used the blush from the Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Contour Palette, for my lips I used a PAC Precisionist Lip Liner – Afterglow and a Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Crème – Deep Blush-008 and my nails are done with a Colorbar Wonder Gel Nail Lacquer – Eternal Blush 002.

Finally to help the makeup set and last longer I used a setting spray, NYX Professional Makeup Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray Matte Finish.

  1. […] For the first layer of eyeshadow I used a Bharat & Dorris Powder Blush – No.7 with a PAC Eyeshadow Blending Brush – 260 and applied it on my eye lids and in my crease line, all the while blending it really well. Then, to create a little depth, I used a dark eye shadow, the M.A.C Matte Eye Shadow – Carbon at the outer corners of my eye lids and just beneath my crease line. Then with a clean blending brush just blend, blend, blend! Then with a flat eye shadows brush like the PAC Eyeshadow Brush – 091 apply a warm beige eyeshadow on the inner section of your eyelids. I used the bold beige from the Maybelline New York The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette. You can read my review on this palette here. […]
